The Oscars telecast is this weekend, Feb. 24. Unfortunately, I have not seen many of the nominated films this year. Of the movies I saw, Silver Linings Playbook is my favorite. The story was original and fresh, and the performances were stellar. Bradley Cooper and Robert DeNiro weren’t the only big stars — the city of Philadelphia was a prominent character in the film. The Ballroom at the Ben, Jewelers’ Row, Lincoln Financial Field and other popular locations serve as the backdrop for many pivotal scenes. After seeing Silver Linings Playbook, I wondered what other movies were filmed in the city of brotherly love. Google lead me to obvious favorites including Philadelphia, The Sixth Sense and Rocky. But I was surprised to see the classic Blow Out. A few other movies filmed or set in Philadelphia include Invincible, Mannequin, Law Abiding Citizen and 12 Monkeys.
