Lunch at Rosie’s Place

On my way to a convention in Indianapolis, I took a slight detour to meet my cousin for lunch in Zionsville, Indiana. Located about 20 minutes north of Indy, Zionsville is known for its village-style downtown area, with Main Street paved in brick. A couple blocks away from Main Street is a beautiful Little League complex.

Ernie’s suggestion of Rosie’s Place for lunch was perfect. Rosie’s was named for the grandmother of Debbi, who owns it with her husband, Michael.

I checked the menu ahead of time and decided on the Black Goat “sammich,” which had roast turkey, whipped goat cheese, blackberry preserves and baby spinach on multigrain bread with a side of fries. Served incredibly fast, it was big in size and flavor.

After lunch, Ernie gave me a walking tour of the area while we caught up. Even though my time there was short, I can see the draw. The secret is out about this quaint town, however. The population nearly doubled to 30,000 in the last 10 years.

Ahead of the bustle of the convention, Zionsville and Rosie’s supplied the perfect relaxing time. I’ll be returning to Indy later this summer for another convention, and I’ll also return to Zionsville.
