Growing up on the Jersey Shore, I used to have instant access to the beach whenever I pleased. I guess I even took it for granted in some ways. I moved out to western New Jersey a few years ago, and these past few summers have been pretty tough getting accustomed to not having the Jersey Shore at my fingertips. Nonetheless, I always manage to make some weekend trips back home to Long Beach Island as often as I can in the summer. Long Beach Island is a not only a great family spot, but it’s a great place for some fun nightlife. One of the best bars to go to is the Hudson House, a hidden dive bar located on 13th Street in Beach Haven many people don’t even know about. They don’t serve any food, but they have plenty of games and great drinks. The best place to go for some late-night food is the Chicken or the Egg, better known as the Chegg. I must warn you, it’s one of the most popular spots for both locals and tourists, so I recommend calling ahead and getting takeout. They have some of the best wings you will ever have. They were even featured on Man vs. Food a few years ago. Next time you take a trip to the Jersey Shore, give Long Beach Island a shot; you won’t be disappointed. — Matt McNeal, account executive
