Traditions can come in many and any forms, especially at this time of year. They can even spring up at work, as one has for Katie Skrzek, director of digital media, and myself. Each year when the GT team descends upon Los Angeles, Katie and I make sure to carve out time to visit the adorable candy boutique Sugarfina.

I don’t remember how many years ago it began, but now it’s a given as we load up on both Christmas presents and stocking stuffers and, sometimes, sweet treats for ourselves, too. Even people back home anticipate our tradition, as I have many people who get a new treat from Sugarfina each year as part of their holiday present.

But as can happen with traditions, sometimes the best-laid plans have hiccups. Katie and I made our way to Sugarfina from The Peninsula Beverly Hills and arrived only to find the store closed. The entire strip of stores was closed, so we knew it was more likely it moved rather than went out of business. A Google search later and we were back on our way, in the opposite direction, to its new location at Westfield Century City, tradition intact and Christmas treats uninterrupted.
