As my fiancé is a school teacher, our vacations often coincide with the busiest travel times of the year. Along with many others, we decided to take a short holiday this past week; our destination: Paris!
With only a few days in one of our favorite cities, we knew not much time would be spent at our hotel. However, the location of the hotel was key because we wanted to maximize our exploration. We selected Hotel Beauchamps, in the 8th arrondissement, just one block from the famous Champs Elysées.
With the help of the RER train and Paris Metro, our transfer from Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) was very quick. We were greeted by the staff and guided to the Privilege room on the sixth floor within moments of arriving. Décor throughout the hotel had a modern, contemporary feel. The top-floor room offered the benefit of minimal street noise and mansard-roofed walls with slightly angled windows, which brought natural light flooding into the room. The customized blinds were able to black out the room, a great feature when adjusting to the time change. The doorways and ceilings were a bit low for anyone over 6 feet tall.
We loved the location of this hotel, just one block from the Franklin D. Roosevelt station with metro connections throughout the city. But most of our time was spent walking to local sites such as the Louvre, Tuileries Gardens, Musée de l’Orangerie, Notre Dame and the Arc de Triomphe.
Within one block of the hotel you can also find multiple patisseries, cafés, bars, restaurants and markets . . . everything you need on your way out for the day or when you return at night. The staff recommended excellent choices for our dinners and made all reservations for us.
I recommend this hotel to leisure and business travelers alike. I think it is fantastic spot for a first visit especially, due to the central location and very helpful staff.
