I’m looking forward to a family dinner this evening, a gathering of three generations at my sister’s home in a suburb of Seattle. Unfortunately, my husband and daughters won’t be there, but a special project takes me north this week to Seattle, and so I’m able to enjoy this get-together. Before we sit down to some delectable Northwest salmon, we’ll be watching my great-nephew enjoy his own private Easter egg hunt (his baby sister will get in on the action a few years from now, but for now, the day will be all his). It’s been quite a few years since my girls were the focus of this holiday fun, so I’m looking forward to watching the excitement of a little one as he hunts down the colorful treasures. As I recall, we grownups had at least as much fun hiding the eggs as the kids did finding them.   I’m always thankful for such occasions when we sisters and brothers can sit down over a meal and share memories and stories of our childhood while watching our children – and now our children’s children – play and talk and establish their own web of memories as members of our large clan.
