Last weekend Kim Krol, editor in chief, and I decided to beat the cold weather with a warm brunch and a hot yoga session in Philadelphia. Angelique Platas, office manager, joined us for brunch.

We started our excursion at the White Dog Café in the University City neighborhood. The charming restaurant boasts dog-inspired décor from quaint illustrations on the walls down to a brass wiener dog front door handle. We ordered brunch cocktails as we perused the menu and listened to our waitress describe the specials. My blood orange bellini was tart and refreshing. After much thought, I decided on the avocado BLT. The filling sandwich included a fried egg from a local farm and thick, brioche bread. We left full and ready to work off our meal.

The yoga class took place at the Fairmount Park Horticultural Center in West Fairmount Park, not far from the Please Touch Museum. We checked in with someone from the Horticultural Center then set up our mats among our fellow yogis. The greenhouse surroundings made for a unique yoga experience. The class was challenging but went by quickly. Additional yoga classes at the Horticultural Center are available over the coming months. If you live in the Philadelphia area, I highly recommend signing up for a class. Keep in mind: Classes fill up quickly, so the sooner you sign up the better.
