Friday the fall golf group played 36 holes of golf at the Currituck Club . . . on Saturday . . . 36 holes at the Nags Head Golf Links, and on Sunday finished . . . 36 holes at Seascapes Golf Links in Kitty Hawk. Seascapes was a subject of a GTee review in the September 2005 issue. Six rounds of golf in three days takes a certain kind of individual; not all golfers can or want to do it. On the other hand, it offers you the opportunity to remember how you played on the previous round and hopefully find solutions to improve your play. At the same time, birdies on the first round turned to par or worse on the second . . . golf is not an exact science! The weather in the Outer Banks could not have been better, but the first two days we were faced with 30 to 40 mph winds that turned par 4s into par 5s. Clubbing the ball from 150 yards, which normally would take a 7 or 8 iron, was taking a 4 iron or fairway wood. Par 5s became monsters; shots off center were pushed left or right . . . I felt like I was playing the Old Course in Scotland at times (without the gorse and rain).
