Lone Mountain Ranch, in Big Sky, Montana, recently announced the opening of The Trapper’s Den, a freshly restored 1915 cabin that trappers once used as a base for hunting. The new space now offers a distinguished retreat for cigar enthusiasts and whiskey lovers.
Guests can expect wood interiors, a cozy setting and a vinyl record player with specific music to fit the vibe of the cabin. The cabin will also feature a premium selection of cigars and fine whiskeys sourced from around the world. Signature cigar options include Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real, Padron 3000 Natura, Undercrown Shade, El Profesor, Davidoff Winston Churchill The Later Hour, LFD La Flor Dominicana Andalusian Bull and Drew Estate Liga Privada No. 9.
The Trapper’s Den also features a selection of fine wines, spirits and whiskeys from the acclaimed Horn & Cantle.
Members of the Lone Mountain Ranch team handpicked vintage artifacts from around the country for décor. Artifacts include antique trapping sets, bison hides and early 20th-century treasures that nod to the ranch’s previous life. The space also features games such as chess, backgammon and poker.
The indoor space of The Trapper’s Den can accommodate up to eight people, while the outdoor wraparound porch can fit up to 20. Outside, guests can enjoy panoramic views of the ranch’s landscape and two outdoor fireplaces.

Apr 13, 2026I Took a Trip Without Knowing the Destination … Here’s What I Learned
When it comes to travel planning, I’m a control freak. The thought of relinquishing my travel fate to someone else gives me the shakes. However, a tiny part of me was curious about what would happen if I let go, so Type A personality be damned, I decided to face my inner planner head-on and head out on an unknown solo getaway.
