Berlin is rolling out the welcome mat for LGBT travelers with the launch of the Pink Pillow Berlin Collection. A collaboration between Visit Berlin and the Berlin hotel industry, the initiative sets LGBT-friendly standards for participating hotels, showcasing modern Berlin’s reputation as one of the world’s leading gay travel destinations.

“In Berlin, tolerance is practiced and all people are free to be themselves,” said Burkhard Kieker, CEO, Visit Berlin. “The city has created something new for the gay and lesbian travel market and has established a unique hotel network.”

Grand Hotel Esplanade Berlin, nhow Berlin, Novotel Berlin Am Tiergarten, Radisson Blu Hotel Berlin and Westin Grand Berlin are on the initial roster of 23 participating hotels with more added daily. All participating hotels display a welcoming charter showing a commitment to value all guests equally. Participating hotels must also engage in social projects for the LGBT community.

Even at a time when the San Fernando Valley was not known for innovative 5-star dining, the Lees’ concepts gathered such a strong buzz that discerning diners cheerfully followed them “over the hill.”
