Once a popular haunt of the Beat Generation, the historic Marlton House in Greenwich Village has found new life as a 107-room luxury hotel, The Marlton. Does the name ring a bell? American satirist Lenny Bruce once lived in the building and author Jack Kerouac penned two of his novellas within its walls.
The building’s historic elegance has been carefully enhanced across all nine floors. The space includes two penthouse suites with private terraces, a coffee bar, and a 98-seat restaurant with a skylight terrace. Luxury updates include a Parisian-inspired décor and “Baby Grand” theme, while the original herringbone wood floors, marble bathrooms, brass fixtures and quirky wire mesh closet doors are still intact. The just-opened property is located at 5 W. 8th St. off Washington Square Park.
