Two and a half hours beyond Ho Chi Minh City, via a newly constructed highway, Azerai Ke Ga Bay in Vietnam’s Binh Thuan province opens the gate to a corner of the country waiting to be discovered. The careful planning and sustainable development of Azerai Ke Ga Bay has already made a strong impression as an award-nominated and -winning pioneer of 5-star boutique hospitality in this emerging destination, drawing in an adventurous new generation of affluent international guests.
The gorgeous, beachfront boutique resort is defined by 11 acres of landscaped tropical garden and an adjoining 5-kilometer-long sandy beach. As the only international resort tucked into a long-hidden fishing village community, the layout keeps things down to earth with only 57 spacious suites, thoughtfully designed pool suites, spa and three swimming pools and pavilions, and a chic restaurant.
Even with its many sophisticated comforts, Azerai Ke Ga Bay feels worlds away from the country’s big cities and modern high-rise tourism resorts. It was built with intention into an environment allowing visitors to unwind within an unspoiled coastal landscape of natural and cultural wonders, from the pristine beaches to traditional fishing communities, hot springs to the salt fields and fruit gardens. The bay is framed to the west by soaring sand dunes and by Hon Ba Island and Ke Ga Lighthouse to the east. The oldest lighthouse in Vietnam dates to 1897 and can be reached by the hotel’s private boat tours.
Vietnamese hospitality at the resort can be further enhanced by a choice of immersive tours, making Ke Ga Bay an ideal place for travelers who want to balance old-world Vietnamese luxury with adventure. Sustainable activities connecting guests with the spirit of their destination include non-motorized water sports, small-scale tours to local attractions such as dragon fruit farms and village visits virtually free from bustling tourist crowds. At the resort, Vietnamese cooking classes, spa experiences, outdoor yoga and meditation abound.
The newest Azerai location is a part of a recently launched brand of resorts offering guests simple elegance, refined design, and discreet and attentive service in places of unique beauty and cultural interest. It was founded by hotelier Adrian Zecha, who named his hotel group with his initials combined with the latter part of a Persian word, caravanserai, which references the storied old inns of the Middle East. Azerai Ke Ga Bay marks the brand’s first beach resort, following Azerai La Residence in Hue, a historic city resort overlooking the Perfume River in Vietnam’s former imperial capital.

Sep 6, 2024Escape to Tahiti for a Captivating Island-Hopping Cruise
The 118 islands of French Polynesia reveal themselves layer by fascinating layer, with the spirit of mana (vital force) linking them all the way from Tahiti to the remote reaches of the Marquesas. This is part of the world best savored on a journey that dives as deep into culture as natural beauty, both above and below the water’s surface. A cruise makes it easy to cover a lot of ground while unpacking just once (and sneaking in some work done in comfort, too, during at-sea days). And cruising offers particular appeal within this semi-autonomous French territory sprawling across nearly 2 million square miles of ocean and covering five archipelagos.
