Star Alliance member airlines EVA Air and Avianca began codeshare flights Aug. 17, making travel between Asia and Central America more convenient. Avianca passengers can take EVA-operated flights to Taipei (TPE) from Los Angeles (LAX), New York (JFK) and San Francisco (SFO); while inbound from Asia, EVA passengers can connect through Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco to San Salvador on Avianca. The codeshare allows EVA Air passengers multiple itinerary options for travel to the Central and South America region, where Avianca is the primary Star Alliance operator of flights. Passengers can connect onward to San Salvador on nearly 20 flights per week; travel time to San Salvador from Taipei via the United States is about 20 hours, including transit. EVA continues to evaluate the feasibility of offering flights to other cities in the region through codeshares. Taiwan and El Salvador have close diplomatic ties, making the codeshare an important one. El Salvador offers a beautiful natural environment, and San Salvador is a political, financial and cultural center. Since joining the alliance in 2013, EVA increased passenger services with services to more than 190 countries and more than 1,300 destinations. EVA also offers codeshare flights with Singapore Airlines, Air Canada, United Airlines and 10 other airlines.
