Hook Island, part of the Whitsunday Islands in Australia, will soon be home to a luxury eco-lodge. A group of investors, including Epochal Hotels’ CEO, lead the effort alongside design firm Luxury Frontiers.
“Hook Island is a truly spectacular part of the world — its raw beauty deserves a sanctuary that both preserves and celebrates every facet of its charm. Our vision is bold: to create an experience that redefines luxury travel through a deep, authentic and wild-spirited connection to nature,” said Glenn Piper, CEO, Epochal Hotels.

The resort will utilize a biophilic design, a blend of sustainable material and natural elements, to embody “barefoot luxury.” The design will also feature cyclone-resistant, modular architecture. Once open, the resort will harness eco-friendly initiatives in its daily operations.
The resort will feature 39 unique cabins, an arrival pavilion, two distinct dining experiences, forest eco pool, beach club, kids’ club and wellness spaces. Resort interiors boast brown, green and blue hues with pops of vibrant colors, all inspired by Hook Island’s landscape and wildlife. Six accommodation types offer forest or beachfront settings and unique interior designs. Guests may select from a variety of adventurous activities including exploring the Great Barrier Reef.
The eco-lodge is expected to open in 2027, offering travelers a new standard of sustainable luxury in Australia.
