The World’s 50 Best organization released its annual list of the World’s 50 Best Bars, and Asia impressed.

Presented at a live ceremony in London, the rankings are determined by the votes of an academy with more than 500 members from 55 countries. The list then serves as the ultimate guide to the top bars and drinking destinations around the world, with restaurant bars, speakeasies and hotel bars contributing to the list.

This year’s list includes bars from 24 cities in 19 countries, and Asia doubled its regional representation in the ranking, claiming 12 places on the list. Six of the bars included are from Singapore, two from Hong Kong, two from Japan, one from Mainland China and, for the first time, one is in Taiwan.

Asia also has the most new entries with four out of seven on the list, securing the continent as the third most popular region for cocktails, after Europe and North America.

The best bar in Asia? Singapore’s Manhattan at the Regent. Headed by manager Philip Bischoff, the bar ranked No. 7, followed by Atlas at No. 15, Native at No. 47, 28 Hong Kong Street at No. 25 and Operation Dagger at No. 24.

Other notable Asian bars on the list include Speak Low in Shanghai, High Five in Tokyo, Indulge Experimental Bistro in Taipei, Bar Benfiddich in Tokyo and Quinary in Hong Kong.
