Award-winning safari lodge Angama Mara reopens to international travelers, including U.S. passport holders, Aug. 1.
Overlooking Maasai Mara, along the Oloololo Escarpment in Kenya, Angama Mara welcomes back guests weeks after domestic flights resumed July 15. The property is comprised of two camps, each with 15 tented guest suites, and ample private indoor/outdoor space.

A brand-new accommodation option, Angama Safari Camp is a sole-use mobile camp tucked away in the southwestern Mara Triangle wilderness. The property will be open to guests in September and includes four tents, hosting eight guests total. The private tented camp is the ideal setting for guests looking for an exceedingly social-distanced stay, while in the heart of resident wildlife.

In an effort to stay as safe and healthy as possible, the team at Angama developed new procedures in a post-COVID-19 world, including a contactless staff welcome, temperature checks, COVID-19 welcome kits and luggage sanitizing — all upon arrival. The team will conduct deep cleaning of all guest tents and communal areas throughout the day. Guests will also enjoy socially distanced dining tables for each meal, and optional in-tent dining. Flights are available from the United States to Kenya with layovers in Europe. Kenya Airways will resume non-stop New York (JFK)–Nairobi (NBO) flights in October, a 45-minute flight from Maasai Mara.
