American Cruise Line successfully launched its American Melody riverboat last week at Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Salisbury, Maryland. The new boat is the fourth in American’s Modern Series and will set off on its inaugural Mississippi River cruise season in summer 2021.
When completed, American Melody will boast five decks and 91 staterooms, accommodating 175 guests. The Modern Line’s new interior design will complement the gorgeous architectural hallmarks of American Cruise Line’s innovative modern riverboats, including a grand, multistory glass atrium at ship center, 100 percent private balcony accommodations and a patented opening bow and retractable gangway.
The modern riverboats feature expanses of glass throughout, and boast spacious accommodations in all-balcony staterooms. Also included are a casual outdoor café, the signature Grand Dining Room, numerous lounges, sundecks, a Library, a fitness center and more.
American Melody will begin cruising in summer 2021. Also debuting in 2021 is American Jazz, delayed from cruising in 2020. The third riverboat will set sail in March. American’s fifth, as yet unnamed modern riverboat is due in 2022; the cruise line has plans to release one to two new modern riverboats each year ahead.
