Alitalia released its new uniforms for ground and in-flight crew, created by Italian fashion designer and dressmaker Alberta Ferretti.

The airline showed off its new designs at the start of the Milan Men’s Fashion Week, with both the male and female staff uniforms made of “seasonless lightweight fine gauge blue wool.” The design elements include satin gold buttons engraved with the letter “A.”

Female jackets are marked at the waist with a gros-grain ribbon signifying the tricolor of the Italian flag. Accessories include leather gloves and silk twill foulards and ties.

Fabio Maria Lazzerini, chief commercial officer, Alitalia, said the collaboration with Alberta Ferretti “brings prestige to Alitalia.”

“The new uniforms represent the work of thousands of coworkers and colleagues who perform the very crucial task of ensuring that passengers experience unique and high quality travel every day. For this reason, we deem it necessary to guarantee the utmost comfort and well-being during their daily activities.”

The Italian carrier faces uncertain times, having entered into insolvency proceedings last year. The Italian government is in the process of trying to sell the airline.
