Alaska Airlines is debuting a modern cabin following years of customer research.
The upgrades have been in the works since Alaska Airlines acquired Virgin America in 2017. The new retrofitted cabins work to align the previous Virgin America fleet with the current Alaska Airlines fleet.
“After extensive feedback from our guests and in collaboration with our partners, we’ve infused the Alaska Airlines cabin with key brand elements from Virgin America — the result is a premium experience at an affordable price,” said Ben Minicucci, president and COO, Alaska Airlines.
A few new features include a refreshed color palette, ambient mood lighting, advanced high-speed WiFi, redesigned first-class seats, upgraded premium-economy and main cabin seats, power outlets and a curated music system.
The airline’s fleet of A319, A320 and A321 aircraft are being retrofitted in phases throughout this year. More than one-third of the airline’s fleet will be retrofitted by early 2020.
