Dining amenities are an important factor in a traveler’s overall airport experience. A recent report by RewardExpert, a frequent-flyer program advice website, lists the top airports in the United States for dining.
Denver (DEN) took the top spot for best dining experience among the 20 largest U.S. airports, followed by Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX) and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta (ATL).
In compiling the data for the survey, RewardExpert considered 75,000 restaurant reviews from websites such as Yelp and Zagat, and also took into account menus and pricing options, which were used to determine the best airport dining options in terms of quality, pricing and variety. The airports received individual rankings as well as a 0–5 ranking.
While Denver was the only airport to score a 5, Atlanta’s 140 diverse restaurants secured it a solid score of 4.0.
The restaurant selection at Phoenix earned the highest overall quality ranking among the 20 airports and was the fourth least expensive airport in which to dine.
The three New York-area airports, LaGuardia (LGA), Kennedy (JFK) and Newark (EWR), took spots 18 through 20 for low quality and satisfaction and high prices.
