PIT Honors Mister Rogers
On March 23, employees at Pittsburgh International Airport wore red cardigans and handed out special buttons and red shoelaces as part of a celebration honoring the 50-year legacy of Fred Rogers, the beloved host of Mister Rogers Neighborhood, the locally produced public TV show that aired nationally for more than 30 years. The airport has a permanent exhibit dedicated to Fred Rogers (on Concourse C) that includes a sweater, an original pair of Rogers’ shoes and other memorabilia related to the TV show.

LAX Lets Travelers Know When to “Go”
A set of restrooms in American Airlines Terminal 4 at Los Angeles International Airport are now equipped with special technology that lets users know which stalls are open. The technology, called Tooshlights, uses smart latches to turn on red (occupied) or green (unoccupied) lights over the stalls. The pilot program will also collect data about lavatory usage (such as busiest times) so the airport can better deploy custodians and maintenance staff.

San Diego International hosts the Astraeus Aerial Dance Theatre for a six-month performing arts residency at the airport. During their residency, dancers and acrobats from the troupe will interact with passengers and create, rehearse and perform new content inspired by what happens at the airport.
