Airport Restaurant Month Back By Popular Demand

May 8, 2015
Daily / Feature

More than 50 airports are participating in this year’s Airport Restaurant Month. Throughout May, close to 100 participating airport dining venues show off their culinary finesse in a take on city Restaurant Weeks.

HMSHost developed Airport Restaurant Month to celebrate airport dining, a phenomenon that’s come a long way since the days of greasy grab-and-go fries and pizza.

“Award-winning chefs sharing culinary creations during restaurant week is always something diners look forward to,” said Atousa Ghoreichi, vice president marketing, HMSHost. “HMSHost’s Airport Restaurant Month was created to drive that same excitement for guests dining in select airports — but for a whole month.”

HMSHost’s corporate executive chef and culinary team created special menus for Airport Restaurant Month. Some of the dishes travelers will find include pan-roasted Atlantic salmon in cool cucumber sauce; marinated grilled chicken breast with honey butter and whole grain mustard; and chimichurri skirt steak with mushroom glaze. Guests will receive a choice of entrée accompanied by several side dishes.

Review: Sushi by Scratch at Grand Hyatt Deer Valley

Husband-and-wife team Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee made their mark by reinventing the term “hidden gem” through their surprising and intentional collection of destination restaurants. While they launched the original Scratch Kitchen in 2013, an expired lease prompted them to relocate to an unassuming strip mall in suburban Encino in 2015 and rename it Scratch Bar & Kitchen. Even at a time when the San Fernando Valley was not known for innovative 5-star dining, the Lees’ concepts gathered such a strong buzz that discerning diners cheerfully followed them “over the hill.”
