This year sees several airlines connect to new airports, as well as other airlines reinstating routes across both the United States and international destinations. With travel back after the pandemic, these airlines welcome new routes and airports to their networks.

American Airlines recently announced it will reinstate three trans-Atlantic routes from Dublin, Ireland, this summer. The airline brings back daily flights to Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), Charlotte (CLT) and Chicago (ORD). American Airlines also plans to now offer year-round service to Philadelphia (PHL) this year.

The airline begins serving Dallas/Fort Worth April 4, Charlotte May 4 and Chicago June 1, with all running until Oct. 27. American Airlines will offer 1,000 seats a day from Dublin with these three routes returning earlier this year than in years before.

Domestic airline Breeze Airways, a carrier that entered service less than two years ago, adds 22 new nonstop routes from 20 U.S. cities. The airline adds Portland, Maine (PWM), as a new destination May 17. From Portland, the airline will fly nonstop to Tampa, Florida (TPA); Charleston, South Carolina (CHS); Norfolk, Virginia (ORF); and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (PIT).

Also launching in May and June, Breeze Airways’ other new routes include service from Akron-Canton, Ohio (CAK), to Norfolk, Virginia; Cincinnati, Ohio (CVG), to Richmond, Virginia (RIC) and Jacksonville, Florida (JAX); and Hartford, Connecticut (BDL), to Fort Myers (RSW), New Orleans (MSY), Tampa and Los Angeles (LAX).

In total, Breeze Airways provides 143 nonstop routes between 35 cities in 21 states in 2023.

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), recently announced a direct route from Copenhagen, Denmark (CPH), to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. The new route, which began Feb. 9, further connects the airline’s customer base internationally. SAS begins operating this new route five times weekly, with the number of departures rising daily in summer.

On Feb. 7, Canada’s Lynx Air launched its inaugural flight to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport from Calgary International Airport. The new route will operate three times weekly between the two cities.

Copa Airlines enters the Austin and Central Texas air service market with its new nonstop service to Panama City (ECP) from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport July 6. The Panama-based airline will be the sixth international airline at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The new route offers connections to more than 55 destinations in Latin America via the Hub of the Americas at Tocumen International Airport in Panama City.

Swiss International Air Lines also brings some exciting news in the world of travel with its recent inaugural service between Bristol, United Kingdom (BRS), and Zurich, Switzerland (ZRH). The inaugural flight took off Feb. 9, with the airline officially adding the U.K. airport to its growing list of destinations.
