Last week, Airbnb announced its acquisition of Montréal-based Luxury Retreats, a luxury vacation rental company offering more than 4,000 homes in 100 destinations around the world.
Luxury Retreats features high-end accommodation listings, dedicated villa specialists, world-class concierge services and a range of customized amenities. These services complement Airbnb’s aim to provide a wide variety of homes and experiences to customers.
“From airbeds in an apartment to castles to villas, Airbnb has always been focused on providing a broad range of amazing experiences and trips,” said Brian Chesky, co-founder and CEO, Airbnb.
In the short term, Luxury Retreats will continue to operate as a standalone entity, and over time its listings will be highlighted and integrated into the Airbnb community. The two companies will invest in the Montréal office, adding additional employees and resources.
Examples of Luxury Retreat listings that will be available include villas in Tuscany and seaside retreats in Turks and Caicos, allowing guests to enjoy a luxurious stay without sacrificing the Airbnb home-away-from-home experience.
