With a new campaign and app, Airbnb is giving travelers a new way to see destinations. The popular accommodation provider has been used by more than 80 million people and continues to grow, and now Airbnb is attempting to relate to those users on a deeper level.
The updated app will learn travelers’ preferences in order to best match them with homes, neighborhoods and experiences in their destination. A new guidebook feature will allow users to explore a city while being led by millions of host tips and tricks.
Part of the company’s largest brand campaign ever, Live There will tackle the dissatisfaction many travelers feel with tour providers. “The number one reason people choose to travel on Airbnb is they want to live like a local,” said Brian Chesky, co-founder and CEO, Airbnb. “They don’t want to be tourists stuck in long lines, fighting with the crowds to see the same thing as everyone else. Our hosts offer more than just generic hospitality — they welcome travelers from around the world into their communities. Today is the start of an exciting journey to help people not just go somewhere, but truly live there.”
The new campaign launched April 19, and it’s yet to be seen what direct actions Airbnb will take to engage travelers outside the realm of accommodations.
