Have you ever finished an in-flight meal and wished you could eat that same food, but not on an airplane? A new restaurant in Malaysia brings one airline’s menu to the ground.

Santan and T&CO, the in-flight menu brand for AirAsia, recently opened a fast-food restaurant in Kuala Lumpur to let guests get a taste of the offered in-flight menu on the ground. The restaurant launched at Mid Valley Megamall in Kuala Lumpur.

“The opening of this flagship restaurant is the beginning of something great for the Santan and T&CO brands. We have seen a significant appetite for our in-flight menu offerings beyond our flights across the region and this is our answer to that demand,” said Catherine Goh, general manager, Santan Restaurant and T&CO Café.

The restaurant also introduces new measures to increase customer satisfaction. The restaurant provides personalized experiences through an AI-equipped smart menu that can recommend dishes based on time of day, ordering patterns and more. Guests can order from santan.com and the T&CO mobile app.

The restaurant features a number of dishes from around Asia. Pineapple fish noodle from Cambodia, chicken inasal with garlic rice from the Philippines and more greet guests. Airlines serve food in lounges, but this is the first instance of a dedicated fast food restaurant opening.

Do you think more airlines should open restaurants to sate guests on the ground? Should airline food stay firmly in lounges and the air? Tell us. Email us at [email protected]. Please include your full name and location.
