Designed to reflect the look and atmosphere of a Caribbean village, the new Six Senses La Sagesse on the Spice Island of Grenada will offer 56 pool suites with open-plan bedrooms, each with an outdoor terrace leading to a private plunge pool, when it opens this May. The property marks the first Six Senses resort in the Caribbean.

In addition to the pool suites, the property will offer 15 villas with one, two or four bedrooms with hillside and beachfront locations. The five largest villas are located on a bluff with a stunning view and landscaped gardens. The villas are private, but still close to all the resort’s restaurants and amenities.

The cuisine at SeaFire signature restaurant is Caribbean and South American inspired, with a Raw Bar and wood-fire grill. At Callaloo, the all-day dining restaurant, guests will enjoy farm-to-table all-day dining. The poolside Panquai Breeze Bar serves Churrasco, the South American tradition of cooking meat on long skewers over a fire, always paired with a selection of Grenadian rums and tropical cocktails. Adults and children will love visiting Scoop, where complimentary shaved ice or ice cream will always be available.

At Spa at La Sagesse, overlooking a lagoon, the upper floor will include a gym and yoga pavilion with views of the lush landscape. The 2,000-square-foot fitness facilities include studios for spinning, cycling, yoga and aerial yoga.

The lower floor offers single treatment rooms and a hammam, along with two suites for couples, each with a private relaxation space and one with an Alchemy Bar. Caribbean traditions will be part of the spa as well with a mix of indigenous spices grown by the Grenadians since the 1800s. These spices will be used within a unique spa menu offering high-tech therapies and pioneering wellness programs, including sleep-tracking, biohacking and a range of three- to seven-night personalized programs. Outside is a communal wet area with a sauna, hot pool, cold plunge pool and Kneipp therapy pool.

The resort’s Experience Center offers interesting recommendations to explore the island at leisure, starting at the capital, Saint George’s, which has one of the prettiest waterfronts in the Caribbean. The vibrant, horseshoe-shaped harbor is lined with boats and features a Time Travel Tunnel with educational plaques showing Grenada’s history. Grand Etang National Park is a rain forest filled with life, including the island’s national bird, the Grenada Dove, as well as the Mona monkey, the mongoose and the nine-banded armadillo. Activities in Grand Etang can include short hikes or more demanding guided climbs up to Mount Qua Qua, or to the “bottomless” Lake Grand Etang, which fills the crater of an extinct volcano. The island is also widely noted as the Shipwreck Capital of the Caribbean, sprinkled with numerous sunken ships, colorful marine reefs and the world’s only underwater sculpture park.

The Grow With Six Senses activities include a children’s Play Lounge and a Teen’s Lounge with arts, crafts and sporting activities.

Six Senses La Sagesse is 35 minutes by car from Grenada’s Maurice Bishop International Airport.

Bask in Nature’s Tranquility at The Spa at Four Seasons Tamarindo

When the two of us entered The Spa at Four Seasons Tamarindo, past the backlit boutique items and local artisan-painted wood carvings, the place wrapped us in a feeling of tranquility. Its stone walls, earth tones, woven wall hangings and furniture made of natural materials reminded us we are part of nature’s spectrum, the abundant windows showing native plants and trees outside.
