A report from GetGoing Travel Insurance names China the biggest international travel spending country in the world.

The list includes three nations from the Asia-Pacific region, including China. Korea comes in at No. 7 and Australia at No. 9. China spent $257.7 billion, overshadowing the United States and Germany combined.

The biggest destinations for Chinese tourists include Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. Hong Kong attracted 44,450,000 visitors. Macau attracted 17,225,000 visitors and Taiwan attracted 10,700,000. According to GetGoing Travel Insurance, Macau is attractive to visitors thanks to many casinos and other entertainment attractions.

With a tiny population of just 632,418, Macau‘s population-tourist ratio is 1:27 for the year.

Korean tourists travel primarily to Japan, China, Thailand and the United States. Australian visitors travel to New Zealand, Indonesia, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States most frequently.

In America, travelers spent more than $135 billion, representing a 9 percent increase over the previous year. Americans traveled to Mexico, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Dominican Republic and France the most, with 35,100,000 travelers visiting Mexico.

Meanwhile, the United States attracted top-tourism numbers from British, Canadian, Korean and Australian travelers.

The study does not account for domestic travel. Look at the full study online and see where your favorite destination sends its travelers.
