When it comes to doing business abroad, your mind probably goes to cities in Europe and Asia before Africa. However, the continent has a number of countries and cities primed and ready for business.
The following rankings come from the Ease of Doing Business metric, compiled and presented by doingbusiness.org. Data is compiled using other metrics in the study and compares economies.
Out of the five countries featured, South Africa is the lowest ranking, coming in at 82. The country has one of the largest economies in Africa.
One ranking ahead of South Africa, Botswana comes in with a ranking of 81. According to Africa Business Venture, Botswana is routinely regarded as one of the most politically stable and least corrupt nations on the continent.
Yet again one ranking ahead, Kenya places 80 out of 190 countries. The country is turning its economy toward telecommunication, energy and more to compete on a global scale. Kenya made starting a business in Africa easier by removing and reducing some fee requirements.
Taking a large leap to 41, there is Rwanda. Rwanda has a fast-growing economy. Africa Business Venture indicates the nation is safe and by 2020 will become more urbanized with a service industry at the forefront.
Another relatively large jump brings us to the higher-ranking Mauritius at 25. With an economy based on tourism, finances and other goods, there always seems to be room for growth.
