Air Canada employs its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner plane on the Vancouver (YVR)–Hong Kong (HKG) route in place of its current 777-300ER. The new plane comes online for the daily route, Oct. 29–March 30, 2019.
The smaller plane means lower capacity for the 13-hour flight. The current 777-300ER has 400 seats, but the Dreamliner has 298. Most of the dropped seats are in the economy cabin. But, the Dreamliner offers a higher-end flying experience over all classes, with features like atmospheric pressure and humidity control, smart glass windows that allow passengers to adjust the amount of light and more.
There are also differences in seat configuration, with fewer seats per row — meaning more direct aisle access.
