Alaska Airlines announced it will offer non-stop service between Sacramento (SMF) and Kona (KOA), on the Island of Hawai’i, three times a week beginning Dec. 20, (details here) and daily non-stop service between San Diego (SAN) and Spokane, Wash., (GEG), beginning Oct. 1. (Details here.)

In June, Delta Air Lines began direct flights between Seattle (SEA) and Washington Dulles International, Kansas City International and Indianapolis International airports. (Details here.) The Atlanta-based carrier also inaugurated year-round non-stop flights between Los Angeles (LAX) and Paris-Charles de Gaulle (three times a week) and Amsterdam Schiphol airports (four times a week). Southwest Airlines announced that, beginning Nov. 4, it will add new non-stop service between New York LaGuardia Airport and New Orleans (MSY), West Palm Beach, Fla. (PBI), and Orlando (MCO) and would also add new non-stop flights between Washington, D.C. (DCA) and Oklahoma City (OKC) and between San Jose, Calif. (SJC), and Tucson (TUS). And Singapore Airlines said it planned to launch the world’s longest commercial flight with a non-stop journey lasting almost 19 hours and traveling approximately 9,000 nautical miles between Singapore’s Changi Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport beginning Oct. 11. The flight will be served by the first Airbus A350-900ULR (ultra-long-range) aircraft and have just two classes of service: 61 business-class seats and 94 premium-economy seats. (More details here).
