I have stayed at the Lotte Seoul on every trip for the last six years, but last month I was excited to try something new when I stayed at the nearby PLAZA Seoul, a Marriott Autograph Collection property. Located across from City Hall, it has excellent views of Deoksugung Palace and is just a few blocks away from Namdaemun market for great shopping and street food.

THE PLAZA Seoul is ultra-modern with crisp lines in the lobby that flow into the rooms. My corner suite had floor-to-ceiling windows with amazing natural light filtering into the spacious room. An electric fireplace and comfy couch were great for reading; the raised-platform, king-sized bed was an excellent sleep. The bathroom was a bit tight, but the light was exceptional and the enclosed glass rain shower was large.

I suggest upgrading to a club-floor room to enjoy the breakfast buffet spread, afternoon tea and happy hour to end your day of meetings.
