Alaska Airlines appeals to customers, expanding its Wine Flies Free program, enabling Mileage Plan members departing from more cities to check an entire case of wine for free.

The expanded program allows members from an additional 18 cities to check wine, for a total 29 cities on the West Coast.

“Wine and food are huge passion points for travelers when choosing their next travel destination,” said Natalie Bowman, managing director of marketing and advertising, Alaska Airlines. “Our Wine Flies Free program makes it easier for our guests to experience some of the country’s best wine regions and take their favorite wines home.”

The program first debuted in 2007 to make it easier for travelers to bring home their favorite bottle of wine from Santa Rosa/Sonoma County. Often, wineries are unable to ship cases of wine directly or consumers are faced with steep shipping fees. Alaska Airlines’ program solves this problem, allowing members to check an entire case for free.

New Wine Flies Free cities in California include Burbank (BUR), Fresno (FAT), Los Angeles (LAX), Monterey (MRY), Oakland (OAK), Ontario (ONT), Orange County (SNA), Palm Springs (PSP), Sacramento (SMF), San Diego (SAN), San Francisco (SFO), San José (SJC) and Santa Barbara (SBA). New cities in Washington include Bellingham (BLI), Pullman (PUW), Seattle (SEA), Spokane (GEG) and Wenatchee (EAT).
