Marriott International has a lot to look forward to in 2018, with more than 200 hotels in the pipeline and 40 under its luxury brands alone.
Marriott’s The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts announced the debut of the brand’s first-ever hotel in Tasmania in late 2018, following a full-scale renovation.

The Tasman, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Hobart will find its home in an assortment of heritage buildings, including the Georgian-style St. Mary’s Hospital, constructed in 1847. Located on Parliament Square — a design-led, urban development set to revitalize the neighborhood — The Tasman will sit directly behind Hobart’s historic Parliament House, near local institutions including Salamanca Market and the Museum of Old and New Art.
Upon opening, The Tasman will offer 128 luxuriously appointed guestrooms and suites, with restored features including original windows, floorboards and fireplaces. Hotel corridors will showcase work from local artists, and an upscale restaurant, lobby lounge and whiskey bar will offer a variety of dining experiences reflective of the local culture.

The Luxury Collection is comprised of more than 100 unique, one-of-a-kind properties in more than 30 countries — all recognized as some of the world’s finest hotels. The debut of The Tasman marks another milestone for Marriott International, now boasting a portfolio of 26 hotels across eight brands in Australia and the Pacific region, with another 20 in the pipeline.
