Waiting in line at airport security is one of the biggest headaches associated with air travel. The distress occurs not only from waiting but also from frantically unpacking everything just recently neatly packed, only to divvy it up into bins with auras of impatience emanating from surrounding passengers. Security lines at American airports have become even more problematic as of late as thousands of travelers have missed flights due to long lines and slow security processes. TSA recognized this and developed a solution in the form of legislative action. In June, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Checkpoint Optimization and Efficiency Act. This act will allow additional TSA agents to pitch in and assist as behavior detection officers, especially during peak travel times when the security scanners are overwhelmed. With the implementation of this bill, TSA plans to add more than 760 extra screening agents, increase its overtime capacity for its employees and use more bomb-sniffing dogs to aid in the screening process. TSA´s goal is to maintain the accuracy of security scanning capabilities but also to move passengers through the process more quickly.
