A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to visit the newly renovated Sofitel Philadelphia. The French luxury hotel brand used Philadelphia’s strong cultural and artistic heritage as inspiration for the redesign. The renowned Rodin Museum, located near the hotel, was a particularly significant inspiration for the hotel’s new sophisticated elegance.

Renovation highlights include light woods, pale green and cream hues, custom carpeting and drapes and contemporary art, reminiscent of Rodin himself. Eco-friendly materials were used throughout the property.

Further celebrating art, the Sofitel Philadelphia offers guests the chance to experience the world-famous Barnes Collection. Chemist and art collector Albert C. Barnes established the Barnes Foundation in 1922. Today’s collection includes more than 2,500 pieces. The collection is a must-see, and with the Sofitel Philadelphia, guests enjoy accommodations, a welcome amenity, daily breakfast, cocktails for two, two VIP passes to the Barnes Collection and parking. 

Capping off my visit to the property was an enjoyable lunch at the onsite Liberté Lounge. Executive Chef Jim Coleman’s cuisine is French-inspired; my meal started with a decadent cheese plate (one of my favorite courses, anywhere), followed by a lobster and crab omelet. A wonderful meal in a fresh, modern atmosphere — check it out on your next visit to Philadelphia.
