Finnair, Finland’s flag carrier, announced plans to launch non-stop seasonal service between Helsinki (HEL) and Tromsø, Norway (TOS), for the 2014 winter season. Service to the Arctic city in the far north of Norway will be operated on behalf of Finnair by Flybe Finland three times a week with Embraer E90 aircraft from Jan. 1 through March 28, 2014. Home to approximately 70,000, Tromsø is located directly under the aurora zone, offering views of the Aurora Borealis (northern lights) on clear winter nights. Service is scheduled for departure from Helsinki at 8:15 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and from Tromsø at 9:55 p.m. Tromsø represents a new addition to the oneworld alliance’s global route network, which includes more than 850 destinations in 150 countries.
