The Alright Maybes

by John Wroblewski

May 5, 2025

I first met Angie Reinhart several years ago at her sister Haley‘s concert. Saturday night it was Angie’s time to take center stage as her band, The Alright Maybes, played to a packed house.

As soon as I heard the band was performing at 28 Mile Distillery, about 20 minutes from me, I made sure to get front row center seats. We arrived early as usual and were treated to a fun soundcheck. By show time, the crowd was standing room only.

The Alright Maybes

The Alright Maybes feature Angie on vocals and guitar, Luke Ray on guitar, Julian Daniell on drums, Danny Cohen on keyboards and Adam Wayne on bass, although Connor filled in for Wayne on this night. They performed covers and original tunes for three hours, with one short break. Of their originals, “Gone” is my favorite. Their cover of the B-52’s “Love Shack” rocked the place. Angie’s parents, both accomplished musicians, joined Angie for a beautiful rendition of “Killing Me Softly.”

At intermission we chatted a bit with the band, the elder Reinharts and several of their other musician friends, including Jim Murray of Skip Towne and the Greyhounds, another local favorite band.

This was our first time at 28 Mile Distillery, but it won’t be our last, especially since Angie said they would return there sometime this summer. The venue housed a large stage with a bit of a dancing area. The seating area included high-top tables with comfortable cushioned stools.Angie Reinhart

The food menu was a bit limited, with a few appetizers and pizza, which was much better than typical bar pizza. There was an extensive drink selection.

Today’s Fort Lauderdale is not the one you or your older relatives experienced in college; while beachfront surf shops along Fort Lauderdale Boulevard recall that colorful Spring Break era, Las Olas Boulevard embodies the city’s recent glow-up, particularly after the pandemic. In fact, it was spring 2020 when Hyatt Centric Las Olas opened its doors and played a major role in reshaping and rethinking Fort Lauderdale as a relaxed but lively vacation or business destination.
