This year will mark American Cruise Lines’ biggest Alaska cruise season ever, with two small ships in the state and five itineraries this May through September. American Constitution was repositioned to the West Coast for summer Alaska cruises and spring and fall Puget Sound offerings. It joins sister ship American Constellation to double capacity in the region.

Here’s a closer look at the five itineraries:

  • 19-Day Grand Alaska National Parks, with seven days of exploration in Denali and Kenai Fjords National Parks;and a 12-day Alaska cruise sailing Glacier Bay National Park, the Inside Passage, Frederick Sound and the Wrangell Narrows
  • 16-Day Alaska National Parks, with seven days of exploration in Denali and Kenai Fjords National Parks; and a nine-day Alaska cruise sailing Glacier Bay National Park and the Wrangell Narrows
  • 9-Day Southeast Alaska Cruise, sailing roundtrip from Juneau and visiting Juneau, Haines, Glacier Bay National Park, Petersburg, Wrangell and Tracy Arm/Sawyer Glacier
  • 12-Day Alaskan Explorer Cruise, sailing roundtrip from Juneau and visiting Juneau, Haines, Glacier Bay National Park, Sitka, Petersburg, Wrangell and Tracey Arm
  • 16-Day Alaska Inside Passage Cruise, sailing from Seattle to Juneau, or vice versa, and cruising the Inside Passage, exploring nearly 1,000 miles of coastline and visiting Juneau, Haines, Skagway, Glacier Bay National Park, Petersburg, Wrangell and Ketchikan, Alaska; and Friday Harbor, Anacortes, and Seattle, Washington

American Cruise Lines offers small-ship expedition access in the region with the luxury and comfort of a larger ship, with ships built in the United States and offering private balcony accommodations, top-deck lounges, dining venues and more.

Review: Sushi by Scratch at Grand Hyatt Deer Valley

Husband-and-wife team Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee made their mark by reinventing the term “hidden gem” through their surprising and intentional collection of destination restaurants. While they launched the original Scratch Kitchen in 2013, an expired lease prompted them to relocate to an unassuming strip mall in suburban Encino in 2015 and rename it Scratch Bar & Kitchen. Even at a time when the San Fernando Valley was not known for innovative 5-star dining, the Lees’ concepts gathered such a strong buzz that discerning diners cheerfully followed them “over the hill.”
