Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa is an award-winning resort on Coconut Road in Bonita Springs, Florida, on the Gulf Coast between Naples and Fort Myers. The property, with 26 acres of tropical landscaping, multiple water slides and numerous dining venues, is a beautiful resort. Last month, I brought my 13-year-old grandson to the property for two days of water-sliding in balmy mid-December weather.

Three years ago, the resort underwent a major renovation to all 462 rooms and suites, and now attracts many families; couples; and corporate meetings and events from the Northeast, Southeast and Midwestern states.
New rooms are tropically inspired to match the lush location, with ocean blue and palm green color schemes, and various coconut tree artsy details, including coconut wood bed frames. All rooms have balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows, resulting in nice views and plenty of sunlight filling the space. Not having a minibar in the room was a surprise, but a small fridge kept water bottles cold, and the 24/7 Cool Beans mini-market lobby offers a variety of snacks, coffee, drinks and personal care products.
Although we were at the resort for a holiday, I still checked out the new meeting spaces and ballrooms, which have all new lighting fixtures in a sandy-beige color, with the ballroom stages surrounded by grey and blue drapes and colorful red chairs. Meetings and corporate events play a big role in filling up the resort’s almost 500 rooms.

We really appreciated the 3-acre waterpark, complete with five waterslides, several swimming pools and a lazy river. Waterslides (fun at any age) took up most of our outdoor activity as planned, but I managed to do some laps in the adult pool, as well. There are also several cabana rental options for couples and families, and the waterpark is conveniently located a few minutes’ walk from the resort’s main building.
We also enjoyed the quarter-mile boardwalk that winds through a mangrove forest. At the end, the resort’s marina provides ferry service to Big Hickory Island, a private part of Esterio Bay Ecological Preserve. The resort maintains a private beach on the island for guests. Although the Hickory Island ferry was not running during the two days we were there (because of temporary repair work from Hurricanes Helene and Milton), we drove 10 minutes to the Estero River Scrub access point, which offers four trails where we were warned to be on the lookout for gopher tortoises, snakes and lizards.
Because our stay was short, we did manage to visit all the resort’s activity venues without actually participating in the activities, including upscale Stillwater Spa & Salon; the live music scene at Belvedere Lounge; the 18-hole, Raymond Floyd-designed SaltLeaf Golf Preserve; and the fitness center, where we did use some of the new-looking equipment.

Hyatt Regency Coconut Point offers six drinking and dining options: Fine-dining Tarpon Bay offers a seafood menu with a raw bar; Tanglewood American Grille serves three meals daily with a long list of American cuisine choices; Corkscrew outdoor poolside bar serves sandwiches, burgers, cocktails and beer; Mangroves lobby bar offers craft cocktails and light bites, and stays open late; and Cool Beans coffee bar and marketplace offers locally made ice cream, cookies, a candy shop, snacks, sunscreen, etc. The Coconut Point Poolside Food Truck, usually present at the waterpark, was closed during the period of our visit.

Interior and exterior spaces at the resort are attractive and clean, with helpful and friendly staff wherever you look. Although the Regency brand is not part of Hyatt’s Deluxe portfolio, which includes Park Hyatt and Andaz, it doesn’t seem much below that upper level. The Hyatt Regency brand is well known and respected for its meetings, conferences and business centers, and Hyatt Regency Coconut Point, with its many leisure amenities, dining options and family-friendly waterpark, covers all bases very well.

May 23, 2025Relax, Rejuvenate and Heal at StolenTime
At the namesake luxury, 5-star all-inclusive resort in Saint Lucia, the concept of “stolen time” used to be reserved for couples escaping to canoodle, reconnect and perhaps rekindle in sumptuous accommodations during a romantic getaway on the lush Caribbean island. But when StolenTime by Rendezvous rebranded in late 2022 to welcome all adult guests and focus more on wellness, the philosophy expanded to encompass self-reflection, personal growth and enrichment. After all, time is our most precious commodity, one that’s finite and too quickly slips through our grasp; we need to find those moments that matter and make them count.
