 Interesting Accommodations

Following the traditional Faroese building style of wide, black cladding and grassed roofs, The View is a group of remote cottages in Bøur village, located on a small farm where neighbors are chickens, ducks, dogs, sheep, cows and a dog. Cottages sleep up to four guests and include a fully equipped kitchen, WiFi, heating and cooling and unbeatable views. These cottages also sit less than 3 miles from Gásadalur village, home of the famous Múlafossur waterfall.

Kalsoy Cottages is another unique option, situated in the village of Mikladalur. These newly built properties feature modern designs with extraordinary views. A stay here lets you better explore Kalsoy island, from a guided tour eating like a local and experiencing Faroese tapas places to visiting The Lighthouse in Trøllanes.

Landscapes Rich in Lore

Legends run deep through these lands, feeding the imaginations of islanders for generations. Learn about the gripping story of Kópakonan, a seal woman who became trapped on land after shedding her seal skin; when she got back to sea, the villagers of Mikladalur killed the seal woman’s mates and her two cubs. The seal woman therefore cursed them, and many locals lost their lives at sea, and those said to descend directly from the seal woman and farmer (who were married when she was trapped on the island) are born with webbed toes. The story of Risin & Kellingin, meanwhile, sees a giant and witch from Iceland try to steal the Faroe Islands.

The Faroe Islands teems with these stories, and many are integrated into the landscape.

Magnus Cathedral

Visit this ruined cathedral in Kirkjubøur, dating back to the early 14th century. Magnus Cathedral is the largest medieval building in the Faroe Islands and is home to the only known relic of St. Thorlak of Iceland.

By-the-cabin Yachting Redefines the Cruise Experience

I wish this day could last forever!” my windswept 9-year-old exclaimed, his voice soaring over the Mediterranean. He gripped the helm of a Bali 4.6 sailing catamaran off the coast of Marseille, his sun- bleached hair whipping in the salty breeze. The scent of the sea mingled with the aroma of warm baguettes drifting from the Côte d’Azur shoreline. Our captain, a seasoned sailor, subtly adjusted course, letting my son feel the exhilarating pull of the wind against the sails. As the waves lapped against the hull, I realized this was no ordinary vacation — this was freedom, unfiltered.

Williamsburg Inn Review

You don’t have to love brass chandeliers or brocade to appreciate what Williamsburg Inn does best: delivering a polished, unpretentious stay amid America’s most iconic living history museum. This is where you check in for traditional luxury without feeling like you’re trapped in a time capsule. The Queen stayed here (twice), and so did Eisenhower, but you’re not here to make history. You’re here to enjoy it, on your own terms.
