An Evening of Reinharts

by John Wroblewski

Jul 6, 2024

Finishing this leg of her latest tour, Haley Reinhart returned to her home area for a show at Chicago’s Lincoln Hall. Fittingly, it was a bit of a family affair, as papa Harry joined her on stage for a couple of songs, and sister Angie and her band, The Alright Maybes, opened.

As I reached Lincoln Hall, I ran into Harry and caught up a bit. Accomplished musicians, Harry’s band Skip Towne and the Greyhounds is a local favorite. I’ll see them perform in a couple of weeks.

Once inside, I chatted a bit with Angie. A longtime fan of her music, I hadn’t seen her band live yet, although I saw her join Haley for a song at the last show.Angie Reinhart

Soon it was time for the meet-and-greet. This isn’t the usual quick-picture cattle call. Haley spends a few minutes with each person, making it a special experience.Haley Reinhart

The Alright Maybes opened with a powerful 30-minute set. Angie has a different style and voice than Haley, but I definitely heard similarities at times. Angie’s beautiful voice was complemented by great instrumentation of the band. They played a fantastic set, including a couple new songs. I also picked up their Blue Sky Thinking disc and loved it. I tried picking my favorite song, but it ended up being whatever the current song playing was. I definitely plan on seeing a full show when I can.

Haley Reinhart

Haley thrilled the packed venue, as usual. The crowd was pretty split between first-timers and veterans like me and spanned all ages.Haley Reinhart

One special moment was Haley’s fiancé joining her as she crooned “I Can’t Help Falling in Love with You.” Originally used for a gum commercial, it went platinum, the first time I heard that happen.

Another sweet bit saw Harry accompany her on a couple numbers. Harry is underrated on guitar. The man can shred.Haley Reinhart

Haley’s Chicago shows are just a bit extra-special. She truly embraces her roots. After the show, most of the crowd lingered, chatting with others, including Reinhart family and friends. Nobody wanted the night to end.

Located on Chicago’s north side, Lincoln Hall opened in 2009, but its roots date back to 1912 when it opened as Fullerton Theatre. Completely updated yet beautifully ornate, it maintains a traditional feel. The main floor is standing room only, while the balcony offers seats. I prefer the balcony for its comfort and sight lines.

Relax, Rejuvenate and Heal at StolenTime

At the namesake luxury, 5-star all-inclusive resort in Saint Lucia, the concept of “stolen time” used to be reserved for couples escaping to canoodle, reconnect and perhaps rekindle in sumptuous accommodations during a romantic getaway on the lush Caribbean island. But when StolenTime by Rendezvous rebranded in late 2022 to welcome all adult guests and focus more on wellness, the philosophy expanded to encompass self-reflection, personal growth and enrichment. After all, time is our most precious commodity, one that’s finite and too quickly slips through our grasp; we need to find those moments that matter and make them count.
