For the serious art collectors, downtown Carmel’s designated Arts and Design District is home to Kuaba Gallery, offering contemporary African art from local and international artists. All the art is curated by owner Jayne During, a well-known and respected expert on Zimbabwean (Shona) sculptures. During wanted to create a studio and introduce unique art gallery to the area representing people of color. From paintings to sculptures, the gallery offers African art with pieces available to purchase in-store and online. A portion of artwork sales support communities throughout Zimbabwe through its work with Indianapolis-based Kuaba Humanitarian Foundation.

Joann Hofer, X Chocolat Art chocolatier, was introduced to the art of chocolate while living in Austria. After working with international chocolate masters, she decided to open her own local chocolate-making adventure in Carmel in 2011. Her love for art, food and travel are expressed through her award-winning chocolate creations.

Jennifer Wiese started BeeFree Granola in a small kitchen in Noblesville in support of her son Auggy, diagnosed with autism. Since then, the company has grown with new and ever-expanding products and partnerships. Wiese is passionate about spreading awareness and supporting those with disabilities and was even recently named to the Inaugural Noblesville Advisory Council on Disabilities.
