Visitors to Georgia’s historic city can now sleep in one of eight beautifully renovated suites within the newly opened Printmaker’s Inn. Located on Gwinnett Street in Savannah’s National Historic Landmark District, the inn traces its history back to 1693.

Printmaker’s Inn includes two adjacent historic mansions: Hills-Galloway House (a Georgian-style home built in 1693) and Nichols House (a Victorian residence constructed in 1884). The two buildings are connected by a private, gated brick courtyard, a prime place to also host year-round events from weddings to corporate retreats for up to 125 guests.

Hills-Galloway House originally sat on the Connecticut River in East Hartford, Connecticut. After years of expansions and remodeling, the building was purchased in 2018 and moved to Savannah. The move saw the careful dismantling of the structure and reassembly piece by piece in its new location. The move also saw new additions like luxury baths, secure WiFi and more.

Within the historic house today, guests will find period woodwork, original plasterwork, a central fireplace, leather Chesterfield sofas, wingback chairs, a library and period artwork.

In neighboring Nichols House, expect Italianate architecture of Victorian Savannah, complete with original ceiling medallions, heart pine floors and more.

Guests can choose from either Hills-Galloway House suites or Nichols House suites. Suites in Hills-Galloway House include the Captain Hills Suite, featuring a king bed with an en-suite stocked with Savannah Bee Company toiletries, access to the attic lounge, 25 percent off at a local coffee shop, covered porch, and complimentary and private off-street parking. In Nichols House, a stay in the Nichols suite includes free WiFi, a king bed, 25 percent off at a local coffee shop, an en-suite with Savannah Bee Company products, a Roku device with Sling TV, private covered porch, and complimentary and private off-street parking.

For events, the inn features two bricked, intertwining courtyards. The eight large suites between the two houses serve as additional places for getting ready, overnight stays, photos and more. The attic lounge of Hills-Galloway House serves as a hang-out spot for guests, complete with leather sofas, board games, chess and an 18th-century card game called Whist. Guests can also take part in open-hearth cooking in the original bake oven of Hills-Galloway House.

Williamsburg Inn Review

You don’t have to love brass chandeliers or brocade to appreciate what Williamsburg Inn does best: delivering a polished, unpretentious stay amid America’s most iconic living history museum. This is where you check in for traditional luxury without feeling like you’re trapped in a time capsule. The Queen stayed here (twice), and so did Eisenhower, but you’re not here to make history. You’re here to enjoy it, on your own terms.
