This elevated sunrise breakfast and cultural storytelling experience, named in honor of Queen Lili’uokalani, Hawai’i’s last reigning monarch, overlooks the ocean and provides a farm-to-table experience. Taking place at 8:30 a.m. every morning, the breakfast features a menu centered around sustainable farming and local products. During breakfast, guests also learn from local artisans sharing their rich Hawai’ian culture through unique handmade crafts and daily demonstrations. The experience costs $49 per person.
The Hi’uwai ceremony consists of a traditional ocean-cleansing ritual in which one is immersed in the ocean while a traditional Hawai’ian chant purifies the mind, body and spirit while also honoring the ocean, land and heavens. The ceremony is offered every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7 a.m.

Guests who book the Unforgettable Hawai’i offer take part in a special tree-planting experience on Oahu’s north shore. Part of the Mālama Hawai’i initiative, this offer allows guests to give back to the land, ocean, wildlife and community. Guests can visit ‘Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach with peace of mind knowing the resort is powered by 100 percent renewable electricity. Moreover, the resort is on track to become the first carbon-neutral hotel in Hawai’i.
The resort’s recently unveiled Earth to Cup menu features a sustainable food and cocktail series at Swell. The menu centers around locally sourced products, with new dishes including spicy Kauai shrimp satay and Molokai beef filet carpaccio.

All archaeology-obsessed eyes turned hopefully toward Egypt earlier this year when the highly anticipated Grand Egyptian Museum outside Cairo finally began welcoming visitors after construction delays, funding roadblocks and political upheaval in the region (among other factors) conspired to keep things delayed for many long years. The museum’s cherry on the top is slated to open this summer, with the July opening of the museum’s 20-plus-years-in-the-making Tutankhamen galleries and accompanying cache of some 5,000 artifacts and treasures from the boy king’s tomb.
