Singapore is a beautiful destination during the day, filled with lush foliage and beautiful sea views, but lots of visitors find an equally mesmerizing city at night. Local tour companies continue to add well-planned night tours to Singapore’s long to-do list of fun activities. Because Singapore is one of the safest countries in the world, these nighttime adventures are as safe as any day tour.

On the Marina Bay Night Tour, participants embark on a whirlwind two-hour bicycle tour as the sun sets. About eight main areas and attractions are covered, including Marina Bay Sands, Singapore Flyer (and the Formula One racetrack), Marina Barrage, Singapore River, Gardens by the Bay, Boat Quay (along with the Esplanade, The Merlion, The Fullerton Hotel and Raffles Place), the Civic District and the National Stadium. The tour takes place daily (7– 9 p.m.) with a maximum of seven persons, for about $42–57, including a local guide, bicycle rental, safety gear, water, ponchos, dinner and drinks. The tour is conducted in English, with 90 percent of routes on bike paths.

The unique Wok ‘n’ Stroll three-hour nighttime culinary journey gives participants a behind-the-scenes preview of how Singapore’s fishmongers get their daily catch from the Indian and Pacific Oceans before the fresh fish is delivered to wet markets across the country. This is a highly educational experience, starting at midnight and ending in the wee hours of the morning. It costs about $143 per person and includes breakfast. Tours are available in six languages.

On one of Journeys heritage tours, participants snake through back alleys and walk along streets that reveal a different side of Singapore, including Pagoda Street in Chinatown, as well as the interesting Geylang district. The three-hour tour takes place on Friday, 6–9 p.m., and is priced at about $42 per person, inclusive of a guide and transport. All participants must be at least 18 years old. After the tour, participants may wish to enjoy supper at Yong He Eating House in Geylang.

On the Peranakan Supper Tour, participants enjoy an evening stroll past old, intricate shophouses and beautifully designed terraced residences along Joo Chiat Road in the East, which comes to life at night with colorful sights and sounds. Aside from the opportunity to sample famous Peranakan (Straits-Chinese) delights, tour-goers will try delicacies like frog leg porridge. The three-hour tour (Wednesday and Friday; beginning at 7 p.m.) costs about $85 per person and includes the local guide and a total of 10 food and drink items. The tour is conducted in English and is also available in Russian, Mandarin, Hebrew, Korean and Japanese. Discounted rates can be arranged for larger groups (10 people and above).
