With the reopening of Vietnam’s borders after a decline in COVID-19 cases, Marriott International moves to expand its portfolio in Vietnam. Marriott International, the largest hotel company in the world, currently operates 10 properties in Vietnam, comprising a total of 3,294 rooms.

Over the next several years, Marriott International will add 30 hotels and nearly 9,000 rooms in Vietnam, introducing some of its key brands to the country, like The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Marriott Hotels, Westin and Courtyard by Marriott.
Sheraton Hotels & Resorts expects to open additional properties in several new destinations across Vietnam, including on the Emerald Island of Phu Quoc; the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ha Long Bay; the “City of Eternal Springs” Dalat; and on the shores of Binh Chau.

A stylish new Renaissance Hotel plans to open in the seacoast city of Danang, while Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts plans to debut properties in Danang and Cam Ranh. The flagship Marriott Hotels brand is expected to offer new hotels in Vietnam’s capital, Hanoi, as well as in the city of Hoi An, while a Westin property, Marriott’s leading wellness brand, is also expected to open new properties in Hanoi and Cam Ranh.
Marriott’s select service brands see strong momentum for growth in Vietnam, providing a range of offerings for both Vietnamese and international travelers. Fairfield by Marriott is slated to appear in locations like Vinh Yen, Ha Long and Hanoi, while several Courtyard by Marriott hotels will open in Danang, Ha Long and Nha Trang.

“Vietnam is a vibrant destination and has over the years experienced record levels of tourism as international travelers flocked to the country and domestic travelers began to discover the many wonders available in their own backyard,” said Jakob Helgen, area vice president, Marriott International – Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia & Myanmar. “With the reopening of borders, we are confident that Vietnam’s tourism industry will rebound rapidly.”
In 2021, the company announced a major Marriott-branded residential project expected to include close to 4,200 dual-branded residential and “officetel” units in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon). The project is expected to be the world’s largest hotel-branded residential project, slated to open in phases in late 2024. The highly anticipated The Ritz-Carlton Residences Hanoi expects to make its debut in Vietnam in 2024.

Jun 3, 2025Now’s the Time to See Giza, the Nile and Beyond
All archaeology-obsessed eyes turned hopefully toward Egypt earlier this year when the highly anticipated Grand Egyptian Museum outside Cairo finally began welcoming visitors after construction delays, funding roadblocks and political upheaval in the region (among other factors) conspired to keep things delayed for many long years. The museum’s cherry on the top is slated to open this summer, with the July opening of the museum’s 20-plus-years-in-the-making Tutankhamen galleries and accompanying cache of some 5,000 artifacts and treasures from the boy king’s tomb.
