Earth Month may be over, but that doesn’t mean you should stop considering sustainable travel practices. Marriott International’s resorts across the world offer a commitment to sustainability. Check out these eco-conscious Marriott properties in the Caribbean, Costa Rica and Brazil.
Costa Rica Marriott Hotel Hacienda Belen and Los Suenos Marriott Ocean & Golf Resort
These sister properties are part of Marriott’s Serve 360 program. The initiative follows four pillars: nurturing the world, having sustainably responsible operations, empowerment through opportunities and the philosophy of welcoming everyone, along with the promotion of human rights. The properties offer education and career opportunities to the local communities, including a trade skill training program for vulnerable youth ages 15–24, a hotel training program for individuals with disabilities and training programs for women.

The São Paulo property boasts a successful recycling program, aimed at reducing food waste. The hotel is home to a food bio-digester, which separates organic waste from non-reusable materials, thus maximizing compostable materials.
St. Kitts Marriott Resort & The Royal Beach Casino
The property commits to lowering its footprint on St. Kitts by repurposing a common type of seaweed found on the island. The resort partners with the Ocean Foundation and a local farm to collect and redistribute the invasive seaweed as a fertilizer around the property and on the farm.

May 23, 2025Relax, Rejuvenate and Heal at StolenTime
At the namesake luxury, 5-star all-inclusive resort in Saint Lucia, the concept of “stolen time” used to be reserved for couples escaping to canoodle, reconnect and perhaps rekindle in sumptuous accommodations during a romantic getaway on the lush Caribbean island. But when StolenTime by Rendezvous rebranded in late 2022 to welcome all adult guests and focus more on wellness, the philosophy expanded to encompass self-reflection, personal growth and enrichment. After all, time is our most precious commodity, one that’s finite and too quickly slips through our grasp; we need to find those moments that matter and make them count.

In the city Henri Matisse once called home — and where Musée Matisse holds his largest collection — Hotel Beau Rivage has a special connection with the artist, who first visited the hotel in 1916 and painted famous sea views from his room 89 in 1917. Today, framed Matisse prints — many brightly colored cut-out collages from the artist’s JAZZ collection — decorate its walls. Hotel guests also benefit from a partnership with the museum.
