Happy Pride Month! Since large social gatherings aren’t allowed until further notice in most states, Pride celebrations look a little different this year. Some events scaled back, others are celebrating on their own, and some big events are even going virtual — there are still many ways to celebrate Pride.
One of the biggest Pride celebrations in the country is in New York City. Year after year they put on a special celebration. This year they are encouraging people to celebrate from home as they go virtual in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the first Pride March.
June 28, 12–2 p.m., join NYC Pride in partnership with ABC for a special celebration. The event will be televised, so make sure to check your local ABC listings.
This year, Pride is committed to saluting front-line workers with several community leaders honored as the grand marshals: Dan Levy, The Ali Forney Center, Yanzi Peng and Victoria Cruz.
The event will also feature performances by Janelle Monae, Deborah Cox, Billy Porter and Luisa Sonza, along with appearances by Wilson Cruz, Miss Richfield 1981, Margaret Cho and others.
WABC’s Ken Rosato and Lauren Glassberg will host with special guest co-hosts Carson Kressley, Sam Champion and Kemberly Richardson.
