Traveling parents are often left with limited options when it comes to securing their babies on an airplane — they can now take solace in a new offer from Qantas Airways when they’re ready to travel once again.
Per the Australian airline’s previous policies, passengers could request a bassinet for their little ones, but wouldn’t know if the accessory would be available until checking in for the flight. A new policy now allows travelers with babies to pre-reserve a bassinet, guaranteeing a baby bed at boarding.
Economy passengers can pay 40 AUD ($24.50) or 5,500 Qantas points for a baby bassinet on a medium-haul international flight, or 45 AUD ($27.58) or 6,000 Qantas points for long-haul international flights. The fee includes the baby bassinet and a reserved seat for the parent.
Travelers who don’t need to book in advance can still request a bassinet at check-in for no additional charge. Passengers in business- and premium-economy seats will also be allowed to reserve a bassinet free of charge.
